One unusual character is trying to run for the role of
Ukrainian president. Presumably a man, the individual dresses up like
Darth Vader.
He's been chosen to represent the Ukrainian
Internet Party, which strives to establish the world's very first
'government by internet'. It seems as though the choice to use Darth
Vader as the face of the organization is a wise decision because he's
generating quite a buzz.
In a statement released by the party,
Vader commented 'I alone can make an empire out of a republic, to
restore former glory, to return lost territories and pride for this
country.'
In November of last year, the costumed Darth Vader
arrived at Odessa city hall, where he announced himself as the mayor.He
then reportedly demanded that room be made at a nearby city park so his
spaceship could land. He was also previously seen standing among
protestors in Kiev.
The Ukrainian Internet Party or UIP for
short is officially registered according to them, meaning Darth Vader
could actually land the role of president, but he's got to garner some
serious votes in a short time span. A snap presidential election is
scheduled for May 25th and 2 years ago, Darth Vader only landed 3
percent of votes in parliamentary elections.
