Truck Gets Creamed By Train, With Mega-screamer Badness

Warning,  turn down the volume:

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- A tractor-trailer carrying cotton collided with a train, splitting the trailer in half in Kings Mountain Friday morning. King Mountain police said the accident happened at Battleground Avenue and Oak Street around 7:30 a.m. Friday. Witnesses say it happened in a matter of minutes. "We saw the trucker go across the tracks and got stuck, started spinning out, smoking the wheels underneath," said witness Kevin Harlow. The Norfolk Southern train hit the tractor-trailer, splitting the trailer in half and sending the cotton inside across the tracks. There were no reported injuries and no hazardous material on the train, according to a spokesperson from Norfolk Southern. The train was heading north through Kings Mountain when the accident occurred, according to the spokesperson. The Mayor of Kings Mountain said the city has decided to close that intersection temporarily since it's been the site of several accidents in the past. Locals say they want a permanent barrier put up since trucks don't pay attention to the 'No Truck Crossing' signs. Locals added they're worried someone will get killed or a major health hazard will occur. "What if it was chemicals or something else on there? It's dangerous not only for what they're hauling, too, can be very dangerous," said Bill Foster. This is the second accident this week involving a train. On Wednesday an Amtrak train hit a dump truck at N.C. 49 and Pharr Mill Road in Harrisburg. An Amtrak spokesperson said 31 passengers were on board the train. SOURCE

Walmart Madness #10! Rattlesnake Attack In Walmart

A Washington state man got an unpleasant surprise while shopping at Walmart when what he thought was a stick turned out to be a rattlesnake — and bit him.
Mica Craig, a 47-year-old married father of two, was shopping for mulch in the Clarkston, Wash., store's outdoor garden area for the medical marijuana he is licensed to grow.
"I reached down to grab the stick to move it out of the way, and the snake stretched out, turned around and got its fangs in my right hand," he said.
"When I shook it and heard the rattles, I knew it was a rattlesnake and then I freaked. I was screaming bloody murder through the parking lot," he told local radio station KIRO.
"I slung it off and I did a tap dance on it until it was dead," he added.
Another shopper, Maria Geffre, saw Craig fall to the ground afterward, yelling that he had been bitten by a snake, and rushed to his aid.
"He had punctures on his hand and there was the dead rattler he'd stomped on," she said, adding that the snake had four rattles.
She left her husband waiting in their pick-up truck, jumped in Craig's car and drove him to the hospital in the next town over, just across the Snake River in Idaho, the Lewiston Tribune reported.
Craig said emergency room doctors sent him home at first because he had little swelling and the bite appeared not to have any venom.
But he said his hand swelled up to the size of a grapefruit afterward, and he went back to the hospital, where he said he was treated with six bags of anti-venom.
"As of right now, my little finger doesn't move at all and my ring finger barely moves. I'm hoping it's just swelling," he told KIRO.
"I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to Walmart," he added.
Walmart apologized for the incident and said it would look into the matter. Craig said Walmart had told him a pest control company was clearing the area and had found other snakes, according to the Tribune.

Ground Up Dead Baby Pills Siezed

The South Korean government revealed Monday that it recently seized thousands of capsules filled with the powdered flesh of dead babies. Reportedly, some people believe the powder has medicinal purposes and was created in northeastern China.
South Korea has reportedly been reluctant to criticize China directly over the incident, out of fears of creating diplomatic friction with the country. But the process by which the powder is allegedly created is one of the most disturbing stories imaginable.
According to the Korea Customs Service, the bodies of dead babies are chopped into small pieces and dried on stoves before being turned into powder. The customs officials have refused to say exactly where the babies come from or who is responsible for making the capsules.
China has already been in the spotlight over activist Chen Guangcheng, whose work involves protesting the government's sterilization and forced abortion policies. It was recently reported that China is working to "soften" its one-child policy slogans, though not the actual policy itself.
Last year, Chinese officials ordered an investigation into the manufacturing of drugs made from dead fetuses or newborn babies. Nonetheless, South Korean officials said in a statement they have discovered 35 smuggling attempts since last August, during which 17,450 capsules labeled as "stamina boosters" were discovered. Rather than containing any inherent medicinal properties, the capsules are said to contain dangerous bacteria and other harmful, unspecified ingredients.

Amazingly, none of the smugglers have been arrested in the various confiscations because the South Korean customs officials said the amounts of human flesh contained in the capsules were too small and were not intended for direct sale. The smugglers claimed to have no knowledge of the human flesh content, saying they believed the capsules were ordinary stamina-boosting pills.

The Charleston Police Department has released more details in the single car accident involving a Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputy charged with driving under the influence.

The incident report says that police responded to a single car collision at I-526 west from Savannah Highway southbound around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning. They found a white Lexus SUV "smashed against the guard rail with the front driver's tire under the vehicle."

Police noted that the car was totaled and that a "10 foot section of guard rail for the on ramp to I-526 West was destroyed."

The driver, identified as 37-year-old Nicholas Wagner, told police that he was coming from downtown, "had a bad night" and that he "had just lost control."

The report states that officers noticed the smell of alcohol coming from him and a wet spot on the front of his pants. Wagner told police he had "urinated himself earlier in the night and it was not caused by the collision."

Wagner refused to take the standard field sobriety tests as well as the breathalyzer test at the detention center. His driver's license was suspended and taken away along with the personal fire arm he had in his vehicle.
